The Car

There is plenty of parking space at both the church and the reception.

An overview map of south east London

From West by Car:
Approach London (eg. M3, M4, M40 etc) - either: join M25 (clockwise, North) then follow instructions for 'From North by Car'; or join M25 (anticlockwise, South) follow instructions 'From South by car'; or (if you dare) head straight through middle of London for Greenwich (which is south of the river) then follow 'From North by Car' starting at 'follow signs to Woolwich'

From North and East by Car:
Join M25 - proceed to Junction 27 (M11) - join M11 southbound - continue to end of motorway - follow signs "Blackwall Tunnel A12 Central London" - at end of M11 keep in Left hand lane - follow signs "North Circular A406(S) (A12)" - leave at first exit signed "Leytonstone A12, Blackwall Tunnel" - turn Right at large roundabout (4th exit) - follow A12 signed "Central London A12 Blackwall Tunnel" - follow all signs to Blackwall Tunnel (6.7 mls) and go through Tunnel southbound - after tunnel continue straight on 3/4 mile - to second exit after tunnel signed "A206 Woolwich" - follow signs to "Woolwich Charlton A206" (1.9mls to A on map), ie. straight on across first set lights, three roundabouts, second set lights - at Woolwich Ferry roundabout turn Right (3rd exit), signed "South Circular A205 Woolwich Town Centre" - join dual carriageway - at traffic lights straight on for 100yds - turn first Left signed "Woolwich Town Centre" - descend hill 200yds - turn first Right (hairpin) - turn immediately first Left (into Sandy Hill Rd) - Woolwich Central Baptist Church is on Right hand corner - turn first Right and immediately Right into church car park

From South and South East by Car:
Join M25 anticlockwise - Leave M25 at Junction 2 (A2) - signed "London (SE & C)" - turning Left - Keep to left hand lane to use slip road - Join A2 westbound signed "Blackwall Tunnel 12m" - Note after 3 miles speed limit drops to 50mph - keep to centre lane; left lane often bus lane or local traffic - Follow A2 signed "London Central and Blackwall Tunnel" for 8 miles - then leave A2 signed "South Circular A205 Woolwich" - turn right under flyover signed "A205 North Woolwich" - after 1/4 mile turn Right at lights then Left at roundabout signed "A205 Woolwich Ferry & Shooters Hill" - 1/2 mile to traffic lights, straight on (beware Bus Lane) - 1/4 mile to traffic lights, straight on signed "South Circ Woolwich Ferry" - descend hill 3/4 mile, Common on left - traffic lights straight on 1/4 mile watch for start of Dual Carriageway - at first break in carriageway turn right - descend hill 200yds - turn first Right (hairpin) - turn immediately first Left (into Sandy Hill Rd) - Woolwich Central Baptist Church is on Right hand corner - turn first Right and immediately Right into church car park

By train: - to the Ceremony
Proceed to Woolwich Arsenal railway station. This is on the line from London (Charing Cross, Waterloo East, London Bridge) to Dartford and Gravesend. Journey time from London about 25 mins. At Woolwich Arsenal turn left into main road outside station (not side street). Walk 1/3 mile - pass Blockbusters on Left, open space on Right - at mini roundabout bear Left - pass St Peters RC church - Woolwich Central Baptist Church is on corner of Sandy Hill Road 50 yard after St Peters.

Getting to the Photos:
Some photographs will be taken at the Church, both before and after the ceremony. However, most of the formal photographs will be taken at St Mary's Gardens, about 1/2 a mile form the church. To reach St Mary's Gardens proceed as follows;

Turn left out of the church car park, and immediately left along Sandy Hill Road - at the junction with Woolwich New Road turn right and immediately left up the hill - at the dual carriageway, signed "South Circular A205" turn right (this can be a difficult junction to cross - please take care) - at the traffic lights go straight on - after 1/4 mile (and before the roundabout) turn left into St Mary Street - turn first right in to Greenlaw Street - Park where you can - St Mary's Church and the entrance to the gardens is 100 yds on right hand side.

If you miss the St Mary Street turn - continue to roundabout - turn left - then take first left (hairpin bend) back to St Mary Gardens.

Getting to the Reception:
After the photographs leave with the church on your right and turn left down Church Hill and continue along the dual carriageway. First set of lights go straight on, and straight on at each of three roundabouts then take left hand lane (beware of bus lane) - turn left at traffic lights - pass through width restriction - pass Charlton Station on right - then turn first left (Floyd Road) - at end turn right (in front of fish bar) into Valley Grove - entrance to Charlton Stadium car park is on left at end of terrace of small houses. Park and proceed to main entrance.

By train: - to the Evening Party
Proceed to Charlton railway station. This is on the line from London (Charing Cross, Waterloo East, London Bridge) to Dartford and Gravesend. Journey time from London about 20 mins. Exit station and turn right (for 50yds) - turn left into Floyd Road - walk to end of road (at Fish Bar) - turn right into Valley Grove - entrance to Charlton Stadium is on left at end of terrace of small house - cross car park to main entrance.

By Air:
Those travelling by air are advised to make contact with local family and friends giving expected dates and times of arrival and departure so that the best local travel arrangements can be discussed.
