We are all Christians, aren't we?

FAQs (029)

Not everyone is a Christian. Some people choose to be Atheists, who reject belief in any god. Some are Agnostic, believing that knowledge of god is impossible or cannot be known with certainty. Others follow one of the other world religions, Muslims, Buddhists, religious Jews, for example. Others worship devils or material objects.

If none of the above describes you, you may still not be a Christian.

You do not become a Christian by default. You do not become a Christian by being born in a (so called) Christian country, or by having Christian parents, or just by doing Christian things like going to church, or praying.

Cars in a garage

As Billy Graham was fond of saying

"You may be born in a garage, but that does not make you a car!".

Our part in becoming a Christian is an act of choice and commitment. When we discover that God loves us, and that Jesus died to pay for our sin, we may choose to accept God's love and accept all that Jesus did for us, and commit ourselves to following him, then (and only then) do we become a Christian - and a new life begins.
