How and when were you introduced to Jesus?

My parents were faithful in ensuring that I received education about God and Jesus through Sunday School and, later, church services. I felt it necessary to find a personal faith and left their church for another in the locality. There I felt it right to be confirmed at age sixteen, recognizing that Jesus had a call on my life. It was not until I was twenty one that I met Jesus in a real and personal way while sitting on a beach in a Sussex town.

What difference does knowing Jesus make?

The real difference seems to me to know that there is a guiding Spirit in my life, who is willing to direct and guide in the mundane as well as the special events that affect each one of us. Prayer, giving thanks, worship and Bible study all have a role, yet there is a looking out for and after others which has become a sort of second nature. It affects how I respond to requests for advice, assistance, use of time and the way in which I use the gifts and resources at my disposal. Life as a Christian is most worthwhile, but not always easy to live out in the attitude and example of Jesus. I get it quite wrong sometimes and have to start again.

What advice would you give to others looking for faith?

Consider the Christian life opportunity seriously. Seek advice from known Christians about how they interact with Jesus. Then make the decision privately and, if you decide for Jesus, let others know so that they can help and encourage in the difficult times, and rejoice and support in the many wonderful times of serving the risen Lord Jesus.
